About us

History

The Peace Arch Weavers and Spinners Guild was founded in 1966.  The guild moved to the present location, at the Surrey Museum, in 2005.

It has a library, looms, spinning wheels and other equipment for its members use.

Purpose:

The purpose of the guild is:

–  To promote, encourage and improve the art of weaving and spinning and to offer classes and demonstrations of these crafts to the community.

–  To provide an opportunity for the sharing of knowledge, skill and ideas among the members.

–  To emphasize the importance of achieving the highest possible standard of excellence in all work.

–  To collect current literature and other material relating to the art and craft of weaving, spinning and dyeing and to make these available to all members of the guild.

Education

We conduct regular monthly meetings for interested weavers and knitters. Various fibre-related workshops from September to June are offered by our own members or other artists from near or far. Our Members often volunteer in the Surrey Museum Textile Studio or assist with the various children and family programs.
